Hastings, Nebraska resident, Thomas K. Chagnon, 69, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2019, at Homestead Care Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd with Pastor Steven Peeler officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Condolences may be left at www.dewittfuneral.com.

Thomas was born May 16, 1950, in Hastings, the son of Raymond and Berdina (Reiners) Chagnon. He graduated from Hastings High School with the class of 1968. Thomas married Jo Pounders on May 16, 1970. To this union a daughter was born. They later divorced. He served in the United States Marine Corps, retiring as a Master Gunnery Sergeant after 30+ years. In retirement, Thomas worked as a mechanic for Snow’s Car Clinic. He married Janet Anderson on July 2, 2007, in Woodland Park, Colorado. Thomas was a member of the Hastings Gun Club. He had a passion for mechanics and working on cars, he became known as the "Camaro Man," working on third-generation Camaros. Thomas also enjoyed shooting guns, raising horses, and watching TV.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Janet Chagnon of Hastings; daughter, Brenda (Scott) Favinger of Minden; step-children, Joe (Becky) Anderson of Minden, and Bethany Anderson of Hastings; grandchildren, Riley Favinger, Ashley Favinger, Kelsey Favinger, Lane Anderson, Abigyl Anderson, Lexi Anderson, Morgan Anderson, and Bryan Reeves III; sisters, Angie (Ryan) Brown, and Pam (Lane) Sanford; nieces, Felice, Alex, and Abby; and nephews, Tim, Jason, Chad, Levi, Austin, and Zach.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Steve Chagnon; sister, Janet Dornhoff; and stepmother, Arlene Chagnon.
