Peterson a voice for youth, family

City council member Kathy Peterson speaks during
a council meeting Monday September 23.

Kathy Peterson is a mother of three and a lifelong Hastings resident with a passion for this community. Those were the two big reasons Peterson decided in 2004 to run for a seat on the Hastings City Council.

“I was also concerned about making sure that families and the idea of families was brought to the table as much as business was brought to the table,” she said.

Today, Peterson is in her third term on the council and continues to take those values of family and children into consideration with every vote.

“I ran seriously because there were no women on the council and I thought we needed a different voice,” she said.
