Little Blue rises, recedes quickly

DEWEESE — Less than 36 hours after torrential rains filled tributaries and flooded low-lying areas across the area, flood waters are already quickly receding from the Little Blue River.

Heavy rains blanketed much of south-central Nebraska early Thursday morning dropping more than 4 inches of rain in Hastings, setting a new record for the date.
Prior to the storm, water levels in the Little Blue River near Deweese in southern Clay County were marked at 2 feet. By Thursday morning after the rain had fallen, the water level was up to 7 feet and rising.
