College life isn’t always what you expect it to be — sometimes it’s better.
Eighth-graders at Hastings Middle School made some educational discoveries — like majors they didn’t know existed — when they visited Hastings College and Central Community College-Hastings Tuesday.
Eighth-grader Shawn Sledge was excited to see a glass-blowing studio on HC’s campus.
Teachers, like eight-grade math teacher Courtney Beach, were enthusiastic about the opportunity for students.
“I think that it’s the perfect time before they go to high school to get them thinking about what they want to do and what they might be interested in,” she said.
Beach was glad students got to see what the city has to offer for higher education and see the contrast between the two colleges.
