Minden man gets static for sale of building to strip club owner

MINDEN — The response toward the man selling the building near downtown slated to become a strip club was swift and furious.

Ron Keen of Minden had owned the small, white building at 234 E. Fourth St. for two years before selling it recently to Jonathon Canterbury of Miller, who announced at the Oct. 1 Minden City Council meeting that he intends to open an all-nude juice bar there within 30 days. The item was listed on the meeting agenda as “consider discussion and approval of business license to open an adult entertainment night club.”

“The calls, the threats, it’s just been non-stop,” Keen said. “My phone’s been ringing, you know, ‘Why would you sell to someone like that?’

“It doesn’t matter. I did it to feed my family. It’s got nothing more to do than that.”

With this summer’s drought, times have been tough for the owner of Mower Medic, a Minden repair business. Already Keen had to lay off one mechanic.
