Study corroborates need for conference center

Hastings residents and businesses are calling for an additional facility in town to provide space for meetings and events, according to results of a feasibility study released Thursday during the Adams County Convention and Visitors Bureau board meeting at Hastings Museum.

Sharon and Ron Cummins, consultants for VenuWorks, an Iowa-based consulting business, shared with board members key points from its 171-page report commissioned in January.

More than 400 people were interviewed during the study, including representatives from local businesses, regional and state event planners. In the final analysis, it was determined the community's need for space could best be met with an upscale, $6 to $8 million, 40,000 square foot conference center.
