Report: Both drivers at fault
RED CLOUD — Both drivers shared fault in the fatal school bus-semi crash Sept. 5 near Cowles, the Webster County Attorney's Office said in a statement Thursday afternoon.
Bus driver Marla Wentworth, 59, failed to statutorily yield the right-of-way to the semi on her right, the statement said, while semi driver Travis Witte, 21, did not have a Class A Commercial Driver's License required to operate the semi.
Both issues were identified as possible contributing factors, and both drivers "shared some level of responsibility in the outcome of the crash," according to the statement.
