Community mural dedicated

Lead Muralist Dave Loewenstein speaks about his time in
Hastings during a dedication ceremony for the Hastings
Community Mural Sunday afternoon.

What is a community mural worth?

Is it worth $500, $500 or $500,000?

That was the question lifelong Hastings resident and artist Dave Stewart asked to an audience of nearly 100 people during Sunday's dedication of the community's new mural in east Hastings.

The mural, which is titled "Working Together Toward a People's Art," has been a several month process by community members and a three-person team of artists and directors who helped to guide the project.

"I will speak for myself when I say that this project has been inspiring, to watch individuals of all ages, background and income levels come together to create something that not only speaks for them but about them," said Kaleena Fong, director of the Hastings Community Arts Council.
