Advisory committee: 5 schools instead of 6

Hastings Public Schools could reduce its number of elementary schools from six to five under a new proposal.

The Hastings Board of Education received its first official glimpse Tuesday into a tentative recommendation by the Community Facilities Advisory Committee regarding the future of the elementary system.

"It would be a five-school model with Morton as a preschool center," Superintendent Craig Kautz told the board. "Morton would no longer be a K-5."
