MINDEN — City officials here want to take a page out of Sutton's playbook as Minden looks to regulate the strip club a Miller man plans to open near downtown.
Minden City Attorney Tom Lieske has researched if and how the city can regulate sexually oriented adult entertainment since Jonathon Canterbury discussed his plan during the Oct. 1 Minden City Council meeting to open an all-nude juice bar at 234 E. Fourth St. by the beginning of November.
The item was listed on the Oct. 1 meeting agenda as "consider discussion and approval of business license to open an adult entertainment night club."
Lieske said Minden cannot prohibit Canterbury's business.
The city currently has no laws restricting sexually oriented adult entertainment.
Lieske said during the council's meeting Monday that nude dancing is constitutionally protected free speech under the First Amendment.
