Panther fans tout team's spirit at state

Tournament Wednesday against Wayne.

Becky Adkisson, wife of Fillmore Central/Exeter-Milligan head softball coach Steve Adkisson, knows what it's like to cheer on a softball team as it rallies from behind.

At the Panthers' pre-state practice Tuesday night, Adkisson showed up in a cheerleading outfit representing all of the FC/E-M colors — blue, white and purple — to show the players she meant business when it came to spirit.

And although she wasn't dressed quite the same way, Adkisson mirrored that cheerleading spirit at the Smith Softball Complex Wednesday as the FC/E-M girls rallied their way through their first two games of the Class C Nebraska Girls Softball State Championship tournament.

"We've got to be a comeback team," Adkisson said following the Panthers' 3-0 loss to fifth-seeded Wayne Wednesday afternoon, echoing the team's spirit throughout its fall season.
