Then: Coach Walt Olsen turned around a Hastings High football program that had not had a winning season in 20 years.

Introducing a weight training regimen to the program, Olsen, who arrived on the scene in 1989, began building up players while they were still in junior high. That work paid off in back-to-back state championship titles in 1993 in Class A and 1994 in Class B. Finishing 12-0 in 1993, the team knocked off Papillion-La Vista 24-21, Kearney 12-6, and Lincoln Southeast 14-7 to cap its perfect season.

Now: Olsen continues to coach high school football. Now in his third year as head coach of the Papillion-La Vista South Titans, his 4-3 squad will be looking to secure a likely playoff berth with a road win tonight against Omaha South.
