Team Jack to take stage in Hastings

Jack Hoffman is back in the headlines this month just days before he's slated to step to the podium to receive the Tom Osborne Leadership Award in Hastings Friday.

Tickets for the Leadership Hastings' sponsored seminar and banquet sponsored at the Adams County Fairgrounds, 947 S. Baltimore Ave., are still available. Event organizers are hoping to have all reservations secured by 5 p.m. Wednesday for planning purposes.

Hoffman, 8, ran 69 yards for a touchdown during the Nebraska's spring football game this year to bring attention to the cause of pediatric brain cancer. Earlier this month, he learned his cancer is in remission. He is also slated to receive the Musial Award — named for St. Louis Cardinal great Stan Musial — at the Peabody Opera House in St. Louis on Nov. 9.

"He's just getting so much national attention for his efforts at this point," said Dennis Kellogg, seminar and banquet committee member. "We think he's just the perfect one and the perfect time for him to be honored. It really worked out well for us this year."
