One Bronco offensive lineman had extra support in the crowd for Saturday’s game against Morningside.

A group of fourth-grade students from Lincoln Elementary School went to watch junior Tyler Mogilefsky play for the Hastings College football team Saturday afternoon at Lloyd Wilson Field.

Fourth-grade teacher Rita Will invited her class to see the game and show their support for Mogilefsky’s passion about football.

Mogilefsky of Fort Collins, Colo., met the students through his Hastings College courses to become a teacher. This semester, he and senior Brenda Savage spend time in an elementary classroom and help provide some instruction to the children, under the teacher’s guidance. Mogilefsky’s next step will be student teaching, though it likely will be at another school or with another class.

His time with the fourth-graders has solidified his conviction to teach.

Mogilefsky said he had been behind his younger sister in reading in the second grade, but a third-grade teacher helped turn it around.

“Teachers have had such an impact on my life,” he said. “This is a way to pay it forward.”
