Hot pink, high heels raise cancer awareness

was designed to raise awareness and money for breast
cancer research.
Hot pink was the color of choice for the first-ever Stiletto Sprint in Hastings to help raise money and awareness for breast cancer.
During the fundraiser Saturday at the Hastings Surgical Center, each participant wore some kind of pink accessory. Examples included a hat, wig, coat, cap, skirt and pants.
Connie Ayer of Juniata was recognized for having the most emphasis on breast cancer awareness on her outfit. Across her dress were scattered several small pink ribbons, a symbol for breast cancer awareness. Her pink accessories included a coat, sash around her neck, purse and lampshade hat.
Megan Partridge of Hastings has a personal stake in the fight against breast cancer. Her mother is a breast cancer survivor. She attends events like the Stiletto Sprint to help find a cure.
“I try to do something every year,” she said.
