Sutton takes action to move football field

SUTTON — A football field with decades-old equipment and a lack of parking becomes especially problematic when the team is playing host to playoff games with crowds of more than 1,000.

Those were some of the reasons Dana Wiseman, superintendent of Sutton Public Schools, and Ty Yost, president of the Sutton Board of Education, stated for moving the competition football field to the site of the current practice field near the school.

The pair talked about the project Monday evening following a 6-0 school board vote to approve that action and a contract with W Design of Hastings to serve as consulting engineer.

"Especially this last year where our football program had numerous playoff games here in Sutton, and with the size of the crowds we entertain, we could see a real need for parking," Wiseman said. "Our parking is inadequate."
