Mayor appoints Norfolk native new city attorney

After several months of deliberation, Mayor Vern Powers and the Hastings City Council have chosen a new city attorney.

At its meeting Monday, the council unanimously appointed Norfolk attorney Dave Ptak to serve in the post.

Ptak will work full time for the city, providing legal services to the city, Hastings Utilities and the Community Redevelopment Authority. Each of the three entities previously maintained its own hourly legal council and felt it would be a smart pooling of resources to hire one person to assist across the board.
