At this time last season, the Giltner football team was 5-0 and outscoring opponents by an average score of 59-11.
Fast forward to the present, and the Hornets are still putting up big offensive numbers and, perhaps, even better ones on defense. The big difference is that loss column. Giltner is 3-1 after dropping the season opener 20-16 against Bruning-Davenport/Shickley.
It’s a tough task being the players on a team following a state championship year. Though it may not be fair, it’s only natural to compare this year’s squad to the 13-0 champions of last year.
But the simple fact is it’s not the same team.
“I don’t think they’re really worried about living up to last year’s team,” said Giltner coach Jeff Ashby.
