Hastings College's David Torres shoots a goal against Mount
Marty's Adan Garcia-Marquez (5) and goal keeper Seth
Anderson Saturday at Lloyd Wilson Field.
After starting the year 3-4, with four one-goal losses, Hastings College men’s soccer coach Chris Kranjc noted his team needed to do a better job of finishing games.
That wasn’t an issue in a match against conference foe Mount Marty Saturday night at Lloyd Wilson Field.
The NAIA No. 23 Broncos finished passes, finished shots, made clean entries, attacked free balls and simply out-hustled the Lancers in a 12-0 drubbing. The Broncos improved to 3-0 in Great Plains Athletic Conference play, and 6-4 overall.
“I thought we finished well, obviously. That’s the thing we stressed before the game — that we had to finish our opportunities,” said Kranjc, whose team is currently tied with Midland on top of the GPAC standings. “I think as of late, the last few games we’ve had good opportunities to finish and we responded. I thought defensively, we pressed the ball well, but I was more pleased with how we kept the ball and kept the ball moving. We had (Mount Marty) chasing a little bit. The guys played well. We did a great job of putting the ball into the back of the net and putting the game away early.”
