Tigers pick up first win over Gering

Hastings High's Wyatt Davis (58) celebrates the Tigers'
overtime win against Gering Friday at Lloyd Wilson Field.

This time, the Tiger offense didn't die short.

Hastings High capped a second-half comeback with a 21-14 overtime victory against Gering to eke out its first win Friday night at the Lloyd Wilson Field.

Morgan Karloff caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Tanner Johnson in overtime, followed by Philip Pedroza's extra point.

Then it was the defense's turn for some heroics.

"We knew the heartbreak with a loss like this a few weeks ago against Alliance. I think our kids didn't want to experience that again," said Tiger coach Erik Emerson.
