Tigers drop seventh straight

Hastings High's Kathleen Bartunek passes the ball in the first
set against Aurora Thursday night in Hastings.

The Hastings High volleyball team showed some more signs of improvement and maturity in its match against Aurora.
But the Tigers wish they could have the first two sets back.

The Huskies controlled the match from the start, taking advantage of an out-of-position defense and other self-inflicted mistakes by the Tigers.

Trailing by two sets, HHS rallied to take the third set in convincing fashion, but the Huskies eventually held on to take the fourth and win the match 25-15, 25-12, 16-25, 25-22 Thursday at Hastings High.

“I couldn’t give excuses. I think the girls didn’t play at all, in the first two sets, like they’re capable of. They laid down. In a lot of situations, we made so many mistakes,” said head coach Dave Hepner, whose team falls to 4-17 with its seventh straight loss.
