On Saturday, it seemed the only thing more constant than the crisp, October wind was the yellow laundry on Lloyd Wilson Field.

Penalties and turnovers highlighted Hastings College’s 12-7 loss to Briar Cliff on Saturday. The Broncos (1-4, 0-4) finished with 14 penalties for 137 yards, while the offense threw four interceptions and lost a fumble.

Head coach Tony Harper said those stats are the makeup for defeat.

“We can’t turn the football over like that against anybody, regardless of what their record is. That’s unacceptable,” Harper said.
