OGALLALA — The Hastings High boys cross country team qualified for the state tournament on Thursday, finishing third at the Class B, District 4 meet with a score of 57 points. Trevor Rosno led the Tigers with a third-place finish in 16:36. Scottsbluff won the event with a team score of 12 and had the top runner in Matthew Barraza, who finished in 16:00. Ethan Kerr was the only other Tiger to medal, placing 14th in 17:26.
The girls team placed seventh with a score of 82. Marika Van Brocklin finished fifth with a time of 15:11, qualifying as an individual for the state tournament. Mo Boyd (16:11) also qualified for the state tournament with an 11th-place finish. Lexington won the race with 43 points. It also had the top finisher in Vanessa Ambriz (14:46).
The Class B state meet is on Oct. 19 at the Kearney Country Club in Kearney. The Class B girls race will be at 12:30 p.m., while the boys start at 1:30 p.m.
