Maybe there was a little bit of a hangover after last week's win over Sutton, because something wasn't right with the St. Cecilia offense at the start of Friday's night bout with Southern Valley.
The Class C-2 No. 6 Bluehawks didn't get a first down until midway through the second quarter, but then senior Patrick Hermann got loose on a 44-yard touchdown run with 4:35 left until halftime — breaking a couple tackles in the process — and that's when the offense came to life.
Before Hermann's run, STC had just 30 total yards. By the time the 42-0 victory was done, the Bluehawks had 327 total yards and Hermann had four touchdowns off of 26 carries for 183 yards.
"I credit (Southern Valley's) defensive line. They're one of the best we've gone against. They were shooting the gaps pretty hard and we couldn't get it going," Hermann said.
