Patriots place 11th at state

LINCOLN — The Adams Central girls golf team finished 11th at the Class B state tournament at Holmes Park Golf Course in Lincoln. The Patriots shot a two-day team score of 877 (448-429).

Freshman Elyse Keller led the Patriots with a 205. She shot a 97 on day two, eight strokes better than her day one total.

Junior Bailey Hoins finished with a 216 (116-100), and fellow junior Alyssa Sparts shot a 222 (106-116).

Senior Lacey Johnson (119-116, 235) and junior Mari Sayer (118-118, 236) also competed for Adams Central.

This was the seventh consecutive year the Patriots have sent a team to the state tournament. The highest Adams Central has finished in those seven years was fourth in 2008.

Scottsbluff won the team title with a two-day score of 705 (367-338). McCook's Megan Vetrovsky, a senior, won the individual championship after shooting a 164 (81-83).
