Faces of Sports: Weights lift Tigers in Cinderella season

After finishing the 1991 season without a win, the Hastings High varsity football team found its groove under head coach Walt Olsen.

Thanks to newfound pride and confidence in the program, the team was able to turn things around in a big way, finishing 12-0 en route to winning the Class A State Championship in 1993.

As Olsen, who now coaches football at Papillion-La La Vista South, reflects on the 1993 season, he remembers watching the team transform from a can't win to can't lose unit.

But it didn't happen overnight.
