Three Tigers advance to semifinals at state tennis

state tennis tournament.

LINCOLN — The Hastings High boys tennis team had three players advance to the Class B state semifinals. No. 1 singles player Matt Karnes won two matches to advance, while No. 2 doubles partners Ryan Kern and Nicholas Hamburger went 3-0 in the first day to get to the semis.

Karnes, who was seeded third and earned a bye in the first round, defeated Beatrice's Zachary Pinkerton 6-0, 6-1 and Omaha Brownell-Talbot/Concordia's David Rich 6-1, 6-4. Karnes will face Skutt Catholic's Skylar Lowe, who is seeded No. 2.
