FAIRFIELD — The Sandy Creek and Sutton volleyball teams were already familiar with each other, but soon they’ll be tired of facing one another.

The two teams met Oct. 5 in the Sutton invitational, they squared up against each other on Tuesday, and they’ll meet again Monday in the first round of the Southern Nebraska Conference. The Fillies took the first meeting, but the Cougars avenged the loss on Tuesday by beating Sutton 15-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-21 for their eighth win in 11 matches.

“We lost to (Sutton) in their tournament, so winning tonight is great momentum,” said Sandy Creek head coach Angie Morris. “As far as confidence goes, they’re a great team, so you never want to go in too confident. But we’re playing well, and we’re improving every game.”
