On Friday, more than 120 runners will compete nonstop for 5,000 meters — just over 3.1 miles — in front of hundreds of fans at the Class D state cross country meet at the Kearney Country Club.
While that situation may phase most runners, the Kenesaw cross country team knows exactly what to expect. After all, four of the six Blue Devil runners experienced it last year.
“It is a pretty experienced group,” said Kenesaw head coach Tom Budnick. “They know what’s ahead and what’s going on. They know what’s at stake.”
