The St. Cecilia and Thayer Central girls cross country teams have a pair of runners making a return trip to the state meet in Kearney on Friday. In addition, both the Titans and the Hawkettes have younger runners who are going to experience the meet for the first time.
St. Cecilia freshman Cameron Hucke led the Hawkettes at the Class D, District 2 meet on Oct. 17, placing sixth, while sophomore teammate Mary O’Keeffe was eighth.
“While Cameron ran in middle school and had some idea of what to expect, this was the first year that Mary had run any type of a distance race,” said STC co-head coach Roxanne VanSkiver. “We didn’t know what to expect from her, but she’s really performed well for us.”
