Tigers drop finale to Holdrege

Season one is in the books for Hastings High football coach Erik Emerson after the Holdrege Dusters topped Hastings 27-6 at Lloyd Wilson Field Friday ending the Tigers season at 1-8.

"We knew coming into the year it was going to be a challenge as we graduated a very large and deep class last year," Emerson said. "I'm really proud of the seniors and we just shot ourselves in the foot tonight as well as all season long."

The same things that have doomed the Tigers all season continued to be a problem in the regular season finale as Holdrege (5-4) scored two quick touchdowns to claim an early 14-0 advantage and then sustained long possessions behind the running of senior Brenden Kreutzer to get the victory.
