Tigers improve at state

KEARNEY — At the state cross country meet, success isn't always measured in medals.

That was the case for Hastings High's Kaitlyn Pawloski and Nolan Kohmetscher Friday afternoon at the Kearney Country Club in the Class B boys and girls meets.

Both runners improved their times from the last time they ran the course at the University of Nebraska-Kearney invite. And especially for Kohmetscher, whose 29th-place time of 17 minutes, 37 seconds ranked as the one of the best of his career.

"I'm happy," said the sophomore, who finished 52nd at the state meet last year.
