KENESAW — Kenesaw wanted a fast start. And the Blue Devils couldn’t have begun much faster while rolling to a 62-21 Class D-2 first-round playoff win over Hayes Center Thursday.
With only 14 seconds gone, Kenesaw already scored a touchdown — a 79-yard kickoff return by Tyler Schnitzler. By halftime, the Blue Devils blew open a 55-8 lead.
“I thought we came out with good intensity right out of the gate,” said Kenesaw coach Craig Schnitzler after watching his team improve to 8-1. “I wanted to see a good start, and I thought our kids came out and did that on both sides of the ball.”
Kenesaw will host Bertrand 6 p.m. Wednesday in the second round of the playoffs. Bertrand advanced by defeating Amherst 42-6.
