Mustangs top Cougars in thriller

Sutton's Savannah Schurman (15) hits against Sandy Creek's
Sadie Svoboda (5) at the Southern Nebraska Conference
tournament Monday night in Sutton.

SUTTON — Just six days after facing each other in a regular season match, the Sandy Creek and Sutton volleyball teams squared off once again Monday.

This time, it was in the second round of the Southern Nebraska Conference tournament.

Fourth-seeded Sutton avenged the Oct. 22 loss with a 2-1 win over No. 5-seeded Sandy Creek on Monday, winning 25-18, 15-25, 25-22.

Sutton head coach Jon Yost told his girls they just had to finish this time around.

"We talked about it after that loss on Tuesday, that they need to just regroup, refocus and keep playing aggressive volleyball and do what we've been doing," he said.
