Broncos set to overcome early season tests

It’s been an offseason full of adversity so far for the Hastings College men’s basketball team, especially the last two weeks. The Broncos lost their top scorer and best all-round player in Tobin Reinwald to a knee injury, forcing him to miss the entire season. HC also found out it will be losing its head coach when Lance Creech announced last week that he would be stepping down at the season’s end.

Just a year ago, Hastings College was a young and, somewhat, immature team as far as consistency goes. This year, HC has experience on its side. But if the Broncos are to overcome these early challenges, Creech said, it’s going to take a team effort.

“We just met as a team the following night (after Reinwald’s injury) and kind of tried to reiterate to our guys that there’s not just one player here that’s going to get us 17-20 points and five to seven rebounds. It’s got to be a group effort,” said Creech, whose Broncos open the season Friday at Missouri College.
