It took four years and thousands of miles on the road, but New Zealander Roger Tibbs has finally arrived on the Midwest country music scene.

Tibbs, who is headlining the 10th Annual Miles of Memories Country MusicFest that wraps up Saturday at Adams County Fairgrounds, played his first U.S. concert at the festival in 2010 at the invite of event hostsTex and Mary Schutz.

They discovered him during a visit to New Zealand in 2008, where they had been performing in festivals and other area venues.

"We really liked his music," Mary said. "At the end of the festival, we said, 'You know, we run a festival over in the United States in Nebraska, and if you could get your way over here, we'd love to feature you on our festival.'

"He and his wife Denise talked it over — I teasingly say 30 seconds — and said yes."
