Mayor swears in two council members

Ginny Skutnik, left, and Sarah Hoops take the city oath of
office during their formal appointments to the Hastings City
Council Monday night at city hall. Skutnik will serve in the
first ward and Hoops in the second ward.

The two formerly empty seats on the Hastings City Council were officially filled Monday with the swearing in of two women who returned the council to its eight-member voting power.

Ginny Skutnik, medical staff services coordinator at Mary Lanning Healthcare, was sworn in to the First Ward seat vacated by Todd Oatman in early August.

Sarah Hoops was appointed to the Second Ward seat vacated by Roger Glen in June.
