Dots rock Doniphan-Trumbull

Doniphan-Trumbull second-grader Johann Reiners, 7, adds
another layer of dots to a rock Thursday in art class.
Inspired by the book, "The Dot" by Peter Reynolds, the
students painted dots on rocks as a way to leave their mark
on the world.

DONIPHAN — "Dots rock! Dots rock!"

That was the cheer shouted among the elementary students at Doniphan-Trumbull Public School here Friday as they celebrated making their own mark on the world.

This is the second year Doniphan-Trumbull has celebrated International Dot Day.

The day was inspired by "The Dot" book written by Peter H. Reynolds, which tells the story of Vashti, a young girl who thinks she can't draw.

"Basically the whole premise is making your mark in life," said D-T art teacher Phil Herrmann.
