Opposition puts Minden trail plan on hold

MINDEN — City officials here are putting a plan for a nearly four-mile hike and bike trail on hold following the vocal opposition of local residents.

City Administrator Matthew Cederburg said more than 40 people came to a town hall meeting Thursday evening at the Minden Opera House to discuss the future of a project that had been in the works since 2008. Meeting attendees voted 40-2 to discontinue the project.
Members of the Minden City Council then voted 3-1 during their regular meeting Monday to discontinue the project. Council President Ted Griess was the dissenting vote.

“I still think it’s a project that is very worthwhile,” Griess said.
