Thursday.

About 75 students, staff and members of the community filled a space in the new diesel technology area at Central Community College-Hastings surrounded by a combine, semi truck and other equipment for a celebration Thursday.

The crowd was gathered to celebrate the construction of the 15,000-square-foot addition to the Harlan Building in addition to the tens of thousands of dollars of construction updates to other buildings across the campus.

In all, updates and improvements have been made to seven buildings across the campus, including a renovated culinary arts department, a new welcome center for students, a new bookstore and a major overhaul to a building abandoned 25 years ago.
