Start Over Rover receives $10,000 grant

The power of social networking continues to benefit Start Over Rover as the shelter won a second grant from a Facebook-based award system.

The no-kill, non-profit animal rescue in Hastings was awarded $10,000 Thursday by Chase Community Giving. The top prize was $250,000.

Volunteer Carol Matthews entered the organization into the grant competition, where finalists tried to get the most “likes” on Chase Community Giving’s Facebook page.

“We sure do appreciate the public’s support, and we couldn’t do any of this without the support of Hastings and the surrounding communities,” volunteer Amy Michalek said.
