Smith and in honor of her doctors.

Long-time Hastings resident Marge Smith died in July but her legacy will live on through nine trees planted at Hastings Middle School.

On Monday, her son Hal Smith Jr. of Hastings and daughter Lori Wilson of Grand Island and a few friends gathered to plant trees to serve as a shelterbelt near the middle school's garden.

"This is a wonderful thing to honor your mother with," said Dr. Jerry Seiler.
