HARVARD — By lunch Tuesday, Riley Gallagher’s clothes were torn and he had a large knife sticking through his skull.

The blood and exposed bones were just Gallagher’s school spirit coming through.
The Harvard High School senior brought a garbage bag full of makeup and props to school where he dressed up for zombie and monster day — Tuesday’s theme as part of the school’s first-ever homecoming week. Other themes included 70s sitcoms, Monday; shoe day, today; superhero and villain day, Thursday; and red and white day, Friday.

Gallagher was one of the school’s student council members who took the idea of establishing homecoming week to the Harvard Board of Education last year.

“We don’t know why they never had homecoming,” Shelly Chloupek, student council sponsor, said. “It was just never a tradition in our school.”
