Memorial garden opens Friday at HRC cemetery

Former state psychiatric patients long held confidential by the state of Nebraska will now be honored with a memorial garden set to open 3 p.m. Friday at the Hastings Regional Center cemetery.
The Department of Health and Human Services will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday for a new memorial garden to honor the people buried at the Hastings Regional Center.
A moment of silence will be observed at 3:10 p.m., followed by the reading of the names of 1,432 people who were buried there between 1888-1959.
