Broncos win battle of two top 15 teams

College Soccer Classic Saturday at Lloyd Wilson field.
Chris Kranjc felt Saturday's season opener with NAIA No. 11 Concordia University Oregon would provide the perfect early season test for his Hastings College men's soccer team.

It's safe to say the Broncos passed with flying colors.

Jake Ramsey notched his first collegiate hat trick, and goalie Alex Guyer came up with several huge saves as No. 13 Hastings raced past Concordia 3-1 in a battle of top-15 teams at Lloyd Wilson Field.

Hastings followed up its win over Concordia with a 1-0 blanking of the University of Great Falls on Monday to open the season 2-0.

"Overall, I thought we played well for the first game out," Kranjc said of Saturday's win over Concordia. "We are maybe a little farther along than I thought we were, but we still have a long way to go."
