BLUE HILL — After beating Southern Valley/Alma 6-1 on Aug. 26, the Blue Hill softball team was plagued by defensive mistakes en route to a 7-4 defeat to the same team Tuesday.

“It was totally unexpected. We played all weekend, and we hardly had any errors. It’s a surprise for us,” said Blue Hill coach Jeff Williams, whose team dropped to 4-4. “We came in, and we had already played these guys, and we probably took them a little lightly. They hit the ball extremely well, and they’re well coached. It’s just one game. (We’ll) forget about it tomorrow.”

Southern Valley/Alma scored a total of just three runs in its previous two games, so Brad Reaves, the Eagles’ head coach, was pleased with Tuesday’s offensive production.
