With temperatures in the upper 90s, conditions were tough for those competing in the Adams Central cross country invite Tuesday. But when it was all said and done, it was the Hastings High boys who were burning up the course.

The Tigers won the invite at the Elks Country Club, scoring 18 points. Hastings High had five runners finish in the top eight, led by Trevor Rosno. The senior placed second in 17 minutes, 20.18 seconds and was followed by teammate Ethan Kerr (17:52.53), a junior.

“Thus far in the early part of the season, I’m excited to see not only kids finish at the top, but to see small gaps in between,” Hastings High coach Scott Rosno said. “That means less kids can score in between you. It’s exciting to see what potential is there.”
