Cozad downs Adams Central in opener

COZAD — In last year's season opening win over Cozad, the Adams Central defense never let Cozad tailback Jake Paulsen showcase his speed.

Thursday night ,Paulsen showed exactly why he's considered one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in the state.

Paulsen ran for 275 yards and three touchdowns and also caught a touchdown pass as Cozad sprinted past Class C-1 No. 4 Adams Central 34-14 in the season opener for both teams at Haymaker Stadium.

"He's very explosive, he's got great speed," Adams Central coach Bill Carlin said of Paulsen. "He just needed a little crease, and he made us pay. A lot of times we had angles and he just out ran our angle so you have to give him credit."
