Not too bad for the conference and home opener.
The Doane Tigers came into Lynn Farrell Arena Wednesday with a lofty 11-1 record, including three wins over top 25 teams. But the Broncos were not intimidated by the NAIA No. 11 Tigers.
Unranked Hastings held on to upset GPAC rival Doane in five sets 21-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-19, 15-8 to give new head coach Matt Buttermore his first home victory.
“It was a dogfight, it was a slugfest. It wasn’t the prettiest at times, but it’s a great win for our program,” Buttermore said.
