What started as a cool and calm morning on the golf course ended with strong winds and some frustrated golfers.

The Adams Central girls golf team placed second in the St. Cecilia invite at Southern Hills Golf Course on Thursday. The Patriots shot a 410, trailing only Grand Island Central Catholic, which ran away with the title with a 361.

Adams Central had three golfers medal — sophomore Bailey Hoins placed seventh with a 99, senior McKenna Reed was 10th (101) and fellow senior Courtney Barbee finished 13th (102). Patriots head coach Don Lyons said his team is happy to take second. He said all of his girls are pretty even when it comes to talent.

“They’re all about right there together, only separated by a few strokes for 18 holes,” Lyons said. “So, each girl has the opportunity to step up and be the best on our team.”
